Rowen Merrill is a composer, arranger, and violinist, based in Los Angeles, CA and Nashville, TN.

Growing up in Los Angeles in a family of professional musicians, Rowen was immersed in music from a young age. Her life-long music education instilled an appreciation for the breadth of musical genres and their mingling, which bolsters and informs her current work in popular and independent styles of music.

Rowen began singing before she could speak and loved composing jingles and playful tunes as a child. At the age of 5, she began playing the violin, and her professional career started shortly after. Rowen sang on movies such as The Polar Express, Mulan II, and Lilo and Stitch II, to name a few. She also had the privilege to sing on Neil Young’s album, “Americana.”

Rowen studied classical violin performance at Belmont University with Elisabeth Small. Since graduating, she has studied composition, arranging, and orchestration with Carl Marsh, a prominent Nashville-based arranger, composer, and producer. She has also had the opportunity to deepen her knowledge of violin under the instruction of esteemed violinist Roberto Cani, concertmaster of the Los Angeles Opera.

In 2018, Rowen released her first instrumental “mini-album” Kewl Vibes by Rowen and released her first full album with Warner Chappell Productions in 2023. She is currently working on her sophomore full album, which will be released under Warner Chappell Productions in early 2025. In the last two years, Rowen has also started to score commercials and indie films. She worked on her first feature film this year.

In addition to her work as a composer, Rowen has arranged and recorded for artists such as Katy Kirby, Bully, Grumpy, Lou Turner, Jerry Holliday, and Dreamer Boy. She has also performed with Kacey Musgraves, Daniel Tashian, Lydia Luce, and others as a string player.
